This is a day-long fund raising event in support of St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, held at the Renforth Wharf. The goal is to raise $224,000 for three priority projects at the hospital.
Jack Kidd Council is a major sponsor and as such is entitled to space for a tent . We have just purchased a new tent to be used at this function and other similar events. Trudy Melvin organizes the Council involvement in this activity and is looking for members to volunteer throughout the day to sell bottled water and represent our Council. Please call her at 847-5204 or melvin@nb.sympatico.ca if you can give an hour or more to help in this major event.

Official Opening of United Catena Training Centre
Renovations were completed, gardens planted, paving done, everything spick and span, balloons and decorations all in place for the official opening of the new location of the United Catena Training Centre on Grandview Ave.

The ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Friday, June 01, 2007. Mayor Norman MacFarlane and client Cheryl Harrison had the honour of cutting the ribbon to mark the official opening. Cheryl has been attending the Centre in its various locations since 1983.

Clients and their families, staff, UCT members and the general public had an opportunity to tour the building, be entertained by fiddlers and a magician and enjoy a BBQ provided by Jack Kidd Council.
This was an exciting day for everyone involved and Mgr. Debbie Green and the staff arranged a program which allowed all to participate. Thanks to all .

Some Recent Events/ Projects
Presentation Evening was held at the Council Rooms on May 31. Cheques were presented to representatives of seven baseball leagues and five soccer leagues. $750.00 was donated to each league. The event was well attended and light refreshments were served.

Portage Visit. Five members of Jack Kidd Council visited the Portage Rehabilitation Center at Cassidy Lake on May 22 . Dave & Willie Pugh, Bernie McNamara, Ron Steeves and Wes Cosman spent the morning participating in the group activities, touring the facility and talking to the young people who are there for drug addiction rehab. A cheque for $ 10,000 was presented from Council #755 to help in the expansion of the facility. All came away impressed with the work being done to help these young people .

Relay for Life. Jack Kidd Council will once again sponsor a team in this annual fund raiser for cancer research and treatment which will take place June 08, at the UNBSJ track. The "Happy Travellers" team will have approximately 12 members and we hope the weather will be warm for this event.
